Today, we have tremendous extremes shown both in our weather and wealth. 2024 is the hottest year on record as warming temporarily hits 1.5°C. In the last decade the costs of climate change due to damages from extreme weather events like hurricanes, floods, and wildfires, impacting economies globally, is over $2 trillion. This does not account for the cost of human life, healthcare, and ecosystem disruption. Just in the US, the cost of climate-related disasters can reach over $150 billion per year. According to recent data, the world economy is currently around 100 trillion dollars. Baby Boomers have around $84 trillion in wealth, but their children may not see all that money passed down, the survey says. The average inheritance is expected to be around $320,000, but most Millennials and Gen Z may see less than that due to concerns about rising prices.
